Blisterin' Book Summary
Gerald's mother was addicted to drugs and used to leave him home alone, playing with a GI Joe. When he was three, he accidentally set the house on fire. Luckily he survived, and when his mom was sent to prison he went to go live with his great-aunt Queen. His aunt provided him with a loving home for six years and on his ninth birthday he gets a surprise visit from his mom. He finds out he has a little sister named Angel and a stepdad named Jordan, who claims he is Angel's father. His mom said that she had come to take him "home". He does not want to go with her but unfortunately his aunt dies of a heart attack so he has no choice but to go.
Gerald finds out that his new step father has a love for violence and has been hurting his sister. He tries every way to stop his step-father from hurting his little sister but of course his mom does not believe him and he feels helpless. Gerald even goes far enough to move his sister's bed into his room to protect her from the "late night visits". The siblings find solace in one one thing each: Angel's ballet dancing and Gerald's basketball. One day while Angel was at home cooking, Jordan came home drunk and starts to abuse her again. The hot dogs she was cooking boiled over and caught on fire. Gerald, walking home, sees the fire and runs home to rescue his sister. Will he be able to save her in time or is it too late? Will they finally be free of Jordan?
